My first music column, with the unfortunate name “The Dallas Deal,” ran in the Star-Telegram Jan. 29, 1993 – the first of 700 or so columns to come. Under names that would change over the years, this weekly local/alternative rock column, which ran in the paper’s weekly entertainment guide, Star Time, ran from ’93 to 2006. Reading these early columns makes me laugh and cringe. I was pretty rough around the edges back then, but I was also still a kid – I was 20 when I wrote my first column.
