The day I lost my day job due to COVID, I came up with this story idea – a look at the people on the frontline who were keeping our city alive. But I wanted to dig a little deeper and find people whose normal, everyday gigs kept our city running. Truck drivers, nursing home owners – people who didn’t have high-profile jobs like fireman and nurses but whose responsibilities were no less important. My editor Brian Kendall jumped in to help and photographer Crystal Wise captured some beautiful and haunting images. Read the story here.
